The former France international was released from West Bromwich Albion in March and has now signed for the Indian Super League club
Nicolas Anelka has joined Indian Super League side Mumbai City FC, the club have announced.

The striker was sacked by West Bromwich Albion in March after he was banned and fined by the Football Association for making an anti-semitic quenelle gesture during a match against West Ham in December and has now joined the Indian side.

The former France international striker spoke of his delight at joining the club.

"I am pleased to join Mumbai City FC and through it participate in the exciting Indian Super League," he said on Twitter.

"Talented international players and top Indian talent will make matches thrilling affairs. I look forward to using my ability to do well for my team in the matches we play.
