CHELSEA chief executive Ron Gourlay says the club now have a team that can challenge for titles for the next decade despite the sale of promising youngsters Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku
Jose Mourinho has overhauled the Blues squad since taking control for a second time at the end of last season.
And
after letting the likes of Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole leave the
club, Gourlay believes that Chelsea now have a team to carry them into
the future.
He told the Evening Standard: "Now you've got a team whose age averages 24 years and is built for the next 10 years."
Asked
about the club's controversial loan policy, that has seen 26 players
farmed out to clubs across Europe this season, Gourlay added: "What
people don't see is that it's a massive development piece.
"We did that in this way because we like to invest earlier in younger players. These are players we believe in.
