Eden Hazard in contract talks with Chelsea, Jose Mourinho confirms
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Eden Hazard is in discussions with the club over a new contract.
The Blues have tied down the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta and Thibaut Courtois to new long-term deals in recent weeks, and Hazard appears to be next in line.
Mourinho said: “We have big hopes that he will go from a top player to reach higher levels.
“He’s a player we want to keep. It’s true Chelsea is trying to have an agreement for a new contract.
“It will be a question of time. It will end with a new contract. He wants to commit to us and we want to commit to him for the future.”
Hazard has three years left to run on his current deal, but the Belgium international is likely to be offered a pay-rise and a new five-year contract to reward him for his progress and make him as unattainable as possible for would-be buyers.
French champions Paris Saint Germain have previously been strongly linked with a move for Hazard.
