<strong>West Ham’s new signings have thoroughly impressed in their 
opening four matches, but concerns have arisen over Mauro Zarate and if 
the forward has the physical strength to survive in the Premier League.</strong><br /><br />The
 Argentine, who signed from Velez Sarsfield in the summer, scored a 
spectacular volley in the Hammers 3-1 win away at Crystal Palace where 
he looked the real deal and inspired the team to victory.<br /><br />However,
 against Hull on Monday night it was evident that his lack of 
physicality and lightweight stature may see him bullied into submission

There is no doubt that the 27-year-old has the skill and ability that could see him star in England. <br /><br />Every time he picks up possession he looks to create something and commit defenders with his nimble footwork.<br /><br />He
 has been predominantly used in an attacking midfield role by Sam 
Allardyce thus far, tasked with linking up the play, feeding the 
strikers and generally just being a nuisance to opposition defences with
 his pace and movement.<br /><br />But as we saw at Hull, it was too easy 
for them to stifle the Argentine and nullify his impact on the match, 
which eventually saw him replaced by Alex Song in the second-half.<br /><br /><strong>Strength</strong><br /><br />If
 Zarate is to succeed at Upton Park he simply has to get tougher. He may
 be small but that has not hindered other players of similar stature to 
himself, such as Eden Hazard, Raheem Sterling and David Silva.<br /><br />They
 too ply their trade as playmakers in their side, perhaps looked at by 
defenders as easy targets, but what makes them great players is their 
ability to find a way of evading their markers and using the strength 
that they have to their advantage.<br /><br />Zarate may need to spend some 
time in the gym or just get some more game time under his belt, but it 
shouldn’t be long before he realises what is required to succeed in this
 league.<br /><br />It is sink or swim and unfortunately, if you aren’t strong enough, you drown. <br /><br />He
 got plenty of the ball against Hull but was unable to do anything with 
it, too easily shrugged off by more physical defenders. The skill is 
there for all to see, but the Premier League requires more than fancy 
footwork to succeed

Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has expressed his surprise that <strong><a href="http://www.givemesport.com/manchester-united" target="_blank">Manchester United</a></strong> sold Shinji Kagawa this summer.<br />

The Japanese international signed for Manchester United from Dortmund
 in the summer of 2012 but endured two difficult seasons at Old 
Trafford.<br />

He played under three managers, Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes and 
Louis van Gaal and Klopp believes this hindered his development.<br />

<strong>Klopp surprised</strong><br />

"I was kind of surprised Kagawa was on the market again," <strong><a href="http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/transfer-zone/2014/09/15/5107707/klopp-im-surprised-manchester-united-sold-kagawa?ICID=SP_TS_1" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Klopp said as reported by Goal.com.</a></strong><br />

"His first year at Manchester United was Sir Alex Ferguson's last 
year, so that isn't the time to develop players. The only thing you want
 at that stage is results and titles.<br />

"Kagawa's second year at United was the first year of the new coach, 
so that's also all about results. Then there was a third manager with a 
very successful philosophy [van Gaal].<br />

"So we saw the chance to sign Kagawa and we took it. Kagawa was sensational against Freiburg."<br />

<strong>Debut goal</strong><br />

He marked his Dortmund return with a debut goal for the club against 
their Bundesliga opponents, which was tough news to take for United fans
 that had such high hopes for Kagawa when he signed for the club.<br />

He never failed to settle and the writing was on the wall when Moyes 
splashed out £37m to sign Juan Mata last January. Even his place is now 
under threat at United, as new boss van Gaal has invested further in the
 attacking midfield position, signing Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid.<br />

The Argentine enjoyed a wonderful home debut for United, scoring and 
assisting against Queens Park Rangers in a 4-0 victory on Sunday

 The publisher acquired the title from Diana Beaumont at Rupert Heath 
Literary Agency, on behalf of Matt Nicholls at United Agents.<br />
 <br />
 Kyle Books has said that in the book Vandelli, “with a little help from
 some of his celebrity friends”, will offer “plenty of life, fashion, 
party and etiquette tips”.<br />

 Vandelli has appeared on E4’s “Made in Chelsea” since the first series 
in 2011 and has amassed hundreds of thousands of followers on Twitter

and Cavani has put in some stellar performances to leave the World Cup 
finalist wondering where his future lies.<br />

The former Napoli forward's contract runs out in 2016, and with 
negotiations for a new deal not having started Brendan Rodgers could 
seize the opportunity to finally land his man.<br />

<strong>Anfield striker problems</strong><br />

It is known that Rodgers is a fan of Lavezzi and tried to sign him in
 the summer as he searched to replace Luis Suarez - who joined 
Barcelona.<br />

Mario Balotelli was eventually brought in as a replacement, but an 
injury to Daniel Sturridge - whilst on international duty with England -
 has left Liverpool's striking options looking depleted.<br />

Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini are the three available 
strikers in the Anfield side, but neither of them are perfectly suited 
to Liverpool's fast pace style of play and without Sturridge, Rodgers 
was forced to employ a 4-5-1 against Aston Villa as they fell to a 1-0 
defeat at home.<br />

Balotelli, who joined the Kop outfit from AC Milan, has failed to 
find the net in his first two appearances for Liverpool. Although 
ex-Swansea boss Rodgers has given his full backing to the Italian, he 
could be tempted to add Lavezzi - who has scored 23 goals in 94 league 
games for PSG - to his squad if the opportunity arises.<br />

<strong>The magic of the Premier League</strong><br />

There are other clubs around Europe who are interested in acquiring 
the Argentine's signature, with Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Atletico 
Madrid all in the fray.<br />

However it is believed Lavezzi will be attracted by the bright lights
 of the Premier League - a division he is yet to test himself in.<br />

Liverpool could opt to pay a nominal fee in January for the forward -
 who can play down the left or through the middle - or they could wait 
to sign him on a free in the summer.<br />

Whatever may happen it would be a fantastic marque signing for 
Liverpool and Rodgers as he continues to build a squad capable of 
challenging on domestic and European fronts.<br />

The Italian champions have been linked with a move for Mata since the

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Jack Wilshere has been 
practising his finishing and believes that the midfielder’s eye for goal
 will continue as he’s now less troubled by his ankle problems.<br />
Wilshere equalised against Man City at the weekend with a delicious 
right-footed chip over Joe Hart (having left Gael Clichy for dust), and 
the Arsenal manager says it’s down to hard work on the training ground.<br />
Speaking about his finishing ability, <a href="http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20140914/-jack-has-found-his-power-again-" target="_blank">Wenger said</a>, “He works on it, and I believe for a long time he didn’t kick the ball well because of his ankle.<br />
“Now in training he kicks the ball well and he works on his 
finishing. Not excessively because first he’s a midfielder and you want 
him to give good balls.<br />
“He looked dangerous in the first half as well because he has found 
his pace back. That for a while was not the case so I’m very happy.<br />
“I’ve always told him the best way to answer your critics is on the pitch and he did it.”<br />
And Wilshere himself puts the performance down to the way he’s been preparing and working on his fitness.<br />
“I am just trying to do what I do week in, week out, working hard in 
training and trying to take that on to the pitch. I am getting fitter 
and fitter in each game and I felt good today and I am looking forward 
to another tough game on Tuesday.<br />
“I had a good couple of games with the national team and I am getting fitter.

Angel di Maria, Ander Herrera, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata brought
 the Old Trafford crowd to their feet on Sunday as they helped United to
 an easy 4-0 win over QPR.<br />

But the biggest cheer of the afternoon was reserved for Falcao when he came off the bench in the 67th minute.<br />

The Colombian striker, who moved to United in a dramatic deadline-day
 switch from Monaco, was delighted to turn out for his new club for the 
first time.<br />

"It felt good to make my debut at Old Trafford," he said.<br />

"It is an extraordinary stadium, a legendary stadium and I am happy to get the win. I will enjoy this moment."<br />

Fifteen minutes after making his grand entrance, Falcao almost scored United's fifth.<br />

Robert Green spilled Daley Blind's drive and Falcao raced into the 
box to follow-up, but the QPR goalkeeper recovered just in time to block
 the former Porto man's shot.<br />

His failure to score was the only negative for Falcao, who was overwhelmed by the reception the home fans gave him on his debut.<br />

"I want to say thank you to the fans. I enjoyed the welcome a lot. It was fantastic," he said<br />

"I almost scored. The goalkeeper was good. I hope to score the next game."<br />

Marcos Rojo and Blind performed strongly on their debuts while Di 
Maria continued to prove why he is regarded as one of the best players 
on the planet with another impressive display.<br />

Falcao thinks United's six summer signings will get even better with time.<br />

"Bit by bit we will gel together as a team and the new players will feel more comfortable," he said.<br />

The 23 year old moved to Goodison Park just over twelve months ago on <a href="http://www.soccernews.com/category/transfer-news/" title="transfer">transfer</a>
 deadline day, hurriedly agreeing terms in order for the £13m deal to go
 ahead, on the understanding that his contract could be improved based 
on his form.<br />
The former Wigan Athletic man believes that he has 
earned a new deal, but talks are yet to commence leading him to be 
linked with a move away from Merseyside.<br />
McCarthy has made 
forty-three appearances in all competitions for Everton, scoring his one
 and only goal for the club so far in the 2-0 victory at Hull City on 
the final day of last season while internationally; he has been capped 
twenty-four times for the Republic of Ireland

Manchester City will try to repeat last season's win at the Allianz 
Arena when they open their Champions League campaign with a game against
 Bayern Munich.<br />
Both Vincent Kompany and Manuel Pellegrini have 
spoken about going into the game full of confidence with nothing to 
fear, although the Blues still face a stiff test against the German 
champions.<br />
M.E.N Sport looks at five aspects of the game that City could target in their approach to try and come away with the win.<br />
<strong>No direct threats (other than all of them...)</strong><br />
It
 is of course 11v11 in every game, but Bayern are very much a team as a 
collective rather than a number of individuals. No player scored more 
than 20% of the team's goals in either the Bundesliga or the Champions 
League last season, and their top scorer domestically has left for 
Atletico.<br />
It means City will have to be wary of several threats, 
but does take the pressure of targeting the likes of a Messi, Ronaldo, 
or Ibrahimovic away. As long as every starter in the City XI goes 
toe-to-toe with their man, the Blues should stand a decent chance.<br />
<strong>Don't be afraid to give up possession</strong><br />
City
 will in all likelihood spend more of the game in Munich without the 
ball than with it. It's no secret that Pep Guardiola likes his teams to 
dominate possession and they did it tremendously well in Europe last 
year.<br />
Franck Ribery (33) and Philipp Lahm (29) made more key 
passes than any other player in the Champions League last year. 
Cristiano Ronaldo was trailing in third with 22.<br />
On top of that, 
the now-Real player Toni Kroos completed more passes than any other 
player. Unsurprisingly considering their last-16 exit, no City players 
made the top ten in either category. But ceding possession shouldn't 
worry City.<br />
The Blues only averaged 47% possession in the 
competition last year, yet still won half their games. And Bayern 
clocked up a mighty 69% possession against Real in the semi-final... and
 lost 4-0

AFAN Lido, down to 10 men after the 
first-half dismissal of goalkeeper Rory McCreesh, staged a stunning late
 rally to grab a 3-3 draw with Briton Ferry Llansawel at Old Road in a 
thrilling Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League Division One game.<br />

They were 1-0 down when McCreesh was given his marching 
orders for a shove on an oncoming Ferry player, but a second goal of the
 game — a superb header — by captain Simon Cox and an injury-time strike
 from Darren Mills  secured a point for Lido, who were relegated from 
the Welsh Premier League last season.<br />

Earlier Steve Davey had given Ferry the lead after nine 
minutes from the penalty spot following a foul by Ryan Griffiths, and 
that was the only goal of the opening half.<br />

Gareth Jones lobbed replacement keeper Gareth Crouch four 
minutes into the second period to make it 2-0 before Cox pulled one back
 for the Lido. Then Jones struck again to make it 3-1 before the 
dramatic finale which saw Cox and Mills rescue the visitors.<br />

Despite the disappointment of dropping two points
 in this exciting tussle, Ferry showed signs of progress and will want 
to build on this performance when they entertain Aberdare tomorrow night
 (7.30), especially after Aberdare's 8-1 home drubbing by defending 
champions Monmouth on Saturday. Dan McDonald and Elliott Ford each 
bagged hat-tricks.<br />

Haverfordwest, who are hoping to regain their place in the 
Welsh Premier League, went clear at the top when they beat Taffs Well 
2-1 at New Bridge Meadow courtesy of a brace by prolific striker Jordan 
Follows. Sam Small had given Taffs Well the advantage a minute before 
the break.<br />

The Pembrokeshire side forged ahead of unbeaten Penybont, 
who were held to a 1-1 draw by Ton Pentre at Ynys Park. Jack Delve gave 
the Bridgend side the lead on 28 minutes and Andre Griffiths levelled 
matters for the Rhondda outfit midway through the second half.<br />

Penybont and Cardiff Met are the only two unbeaten sides in the top flight of the league.<br />

Promoted Garden Village celebrated their first victory of 
the campaign, beating AFC Porth 3-0 at Stafford Common through 
second-half goals by Sam Brown, Christian Allen and Callum Silcox.<br />

Village were delighted to open their account. "This is the 
result we were looking for and now we can push on from here,"said club 
official Nick Elias.<br />

"It has been frustrating to lose a couple of games with the
 last kick but this win gives us a great platform to build on. I have 
every confidence we can go from strength to strength. We have recruited 
well during the summer and the new boys are now fitting in well," added 
Elias.<br />

Goytre United maintained their promising start to the 
season when they came from behind to beat their namesakes, the other 
Goytre, 2-1 on their visit to Gwent.<br />

It was the hosts who took the lead a minute before 
half-time through Craig Moses, but in the second period Richard Ryan 
equalised and Jordan Edwards netted a last-gasp winner for the Port 
Talbot villagers.<br />

It looks as though Pontardawe, who lost several players 
during the summer, face a long and difficult season as they crashed to 
their fifth straight defeat, 3-1 at home to Caerau Ely.<br />

Rameer Outlaw bagged a brace for the Cardiff side and 
Andrew Smith also netted, while Dayle Selvage got a consolation goal for
 the Swansea Valley outfit, who are still looking for their first point.<br />

Llanelli continued their splendid early-season form by 
moving into the first round proper of the Welsh Cup with a 2-0 
Stebonheath Park victory over Caldicot Town achieved courtesy of 
second-half goals by Lee Bevan and Liam Samuel.<br />

For the second time Ammanford made Welsh Cup progress in 
extra time — last month they toppled Trostre that way and on Saturday 
they overcame local rivals Cwmamman United.<br />

Cwmamman took the lead in the 25th minute through Liam 
Soroka and Ammanford left it until the last minute of regulation time to
 equalise through Ben Soal.<br />

Young Brett Enoch, in his first year playing at this level, fired the ball home in extra time to make it 2-1.<br />

Tonight, at a special meeting of the Welsh League in 
Aberavon, Ammanford will learn in which division they are going to play 
this season after a series of appeals.<br />

Swansea side West End crashed out of the Welsh Cup, beaten 
5-3 in extra time by visitors AFC Llwydcoed after it was 3-3 at the end 
of 90 minutes.<br />

Ricky Carter blasted home four of the Llwydcoed goals, with
 Jonathan Mason getting the other. John Eames converted two penalties 
for West End and Drew Smitham was also on target.<br />

Tata Steel were much too strong for hapless Caerau and 
romped to a 3-0 home victory. Lee Lewis scored two of their goals, one 
in each half, and captain Lee MacLachlan was also on target.<br />

Neath League side Ystradgynlais battled bravely against 
Barry Town United at Jenner Park but had to play second fiddle to their 
Welsh League hosts, going down 5-2.<br />

James Dixon led the way for Barry with a brace while Lewis 
Coslett, Dale Howarth and Paul Morgan also netted. Andrew Miller scored 
both the Ystradgynlais goals.<br />

Trefelin BGC's home match against Rhoose was abandoned 
after 20 minutes following a knee and ankle injury suffered by the 
visitors' centre-back Oliver Dalton, who was taken to hospital in 
Bridgend. The game was scoreless at the time.<br />

It is hoped that this match will now be played in Port Talbot in midweek.<br />

Cornelly United, who play in the South Wales Senior League 
and the Port Talbot and District League, produced an excellent 
performance to overcome Welsh League newcomers Cwm Welfare 2-1.<br />

It was a thoroughly deserved success for the underdogs.<br />

Dale Smith swooped for one of Cornelly's goals and they 
were also credited with an own goal following a goalmouth melee during 
which Cwm were attempting to clear the ball off the line.<br />

Arsenal’s defensive problems took another turn today with the 
news that Nacho Monreal has not made the trip to Germany for the 
Champions League tie with Borussia Dortmund.<br />

At this point it’s not exactly clear what the issue is with the 
Spaniard, although he missed training today along, it seems, with Calum 
Chambers.<br />

However, the young Englishman has travelled while Kieran Gibbs will take over from Monreal at left-back.<br />

Short on defenders in the first place, Arsenal look set to be without
 Mathieu Debuchy for around three months with an ankle injury sustained 
against Man City on Saturday.<br />

Arsene Wenger has been forced to delve into his youth system to 
provide cover with Hector Bellerin and Isaac Hayden both involved in

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has backed his teammate Romelu Lukaku
 to become the best player in the world, having opened the scoring in 
sensational style against West Brom at the weekend, giving Everton their
 first win of the new season, as reported by the <a href="http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/evertons-romelu-lukaku-backed-become-4259786" target="_blank"><em>Daily Mirror</em></a>.<br />

His goal against his former side was his first of the new campaign, 
having made his loan move to the Toffees permanent this summer for £28 
million. While Chelsea were keen to sell, Howard is of the belief that 
Lukaku can go on to surpass all expectations and go on to become one of 
the best players in the world.<br />

Howard partly credits the youngster’s attitude, saying that unlike 
many young stars, the Belgian international works incredibly hard to 
improve.<br />

The American shot stopper said: “He wants to be the best footballer in the world, he really does.<br />

“That’s what he thinks of himself. He gets his head down and he works, and we push him.<br />

“He’s electric, he’s alive, he celebrates goals in training, 
everything counts to him. Everything matters. That’s what you want to 
see. There are too many young kids that take it for granted. Romelu 
doesn’t. He cost a lot of money but he is not arrogant, he is hungry.<br />

“He was always going to go for a big fee, but he is not affected by 
that stuff. He is a kid, a kid who likes to play video games and play 
football, that’s it – even the video games are football.<br />

“He is not going to get distracted. With guys of his talent, the sky is the limit.”<br />

Everton kick off their Europa League campaign this Thursday against 
VFL Wolfsburg at Goodison Park. Boss Roberto Martinez is keen for the 
side to do well in the competition, having qualified for it by finishing
 fifth in the Premier League last season

Nicolas Anelka has joined Indian Super League side Mumbai City FC, the club have announced.<br /><br />The
 striker was sacked by West Bromwich Albion in March after he was banned
 and fined by the Football Association for making an anti-semitic 
quenelle gesture during a match against West Ham in December and has now
 joined the Indian side.<br /><br />The former France international striker spoke of his delight at joining the club. <br /><br />"I am pleased to join Mumbai City FC and through it participate in the exciting Indian Super League," he said on Twitter. <br /><br />"Talented
 international players and top Indian talent will make matches thrilling
 affairs. I look forward to using my ability to do well for my team in

<a href="http://www.goal.com/en/teams/spain/124/real-madrid" target="_blank">Real Madrid</a> legend Santillana has warned Carlo Ancelotti that no coach is indispensable at the Santiago Bernabeu.<br />

Madrid won the Copa del Rey and the Champions League in Ancelotti's 
first season in charge, but he has overseen a shaky start to the 2014-15
 campaign, with three defeats in the last four games.<br />

The first of those saw Madrid miss out on the Supercopa de Espana 
against Atletico, while back-to-back Liga defeats at Real Sociedad and 
then at home to Atleti again have seen the <em>Blancos</em> slip to 12th in the Primera Division, already six points adrift of fierce rivals Barcelona.<br />
<br />
Santillana, who won 15 trophies in a 17-year spell at Real between 1971 
and 1988 and scored 290 times for the Spanish side, believes Ancelotti 
has enough quality in his squad to turn the team's season around - 
despite the summer sales of Angel Di Maria and Xabi Alonso.<br />
<br />
"Ancelotti has a tremendous squad," the 62-year-old told <strong>Goal</strong>.
 "Even though Madrid may miss Alonso and Di Maria, there is sufficient 
quality in that squad for the coach to work with. He needs to be 
patient, find a way of putting the players in the positions which best 
suit the team and build a compact side.<br />
<br />
"I hope he can turn it around, but nobody is indispensable at Real Madrid."<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, the former Spain striker suggests the club need a better balance in terms of their signing policy.<br />
<br />
"We all know about the strategy of [Madrid president] Florentino Perez,"
 he said. "He wants to bring in the best players in the world and 
there's a lot of marketing involved. They are great players, but that's 
not always a guarantee of success. You could recruit all of the best 
architects, but that wouldn't mean they would necessarily construct 
better buildings.<br />
<br />
"Look at Atletico, for example. They have an inferior squad [to Real], 
but Diego Simeone transmits his message to the team and gets 200 per 
cent out of those players. They are humble and each one works for his 
team-mate.<br />
<br />
"At Madrid, the best thing would be to have a signing strategy that's 
50-50 - half about business and half thinking about players who will fit
 into the team and improve the side."
