The Reds boss has revealed that chief executive Ian Ayre has held talks with the 19-year-old’s team about a fresh deal and believes “everything is calm”.
Sterling is reportedly attracting interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid and it has been suggested he is reluctant to put pen to paper with the Reds.
But Rodgers is unconcerned by the rumours and says the England winger knows Liverpool is the right club to help his career develop.
Liverpool are expected to offer Sterling, who is currently under contract until 2017, a significant wage hike to reflect his growing stature in the squad.
The teenager is understood to earn around £30,000 a week at present but the Reds are ready to pay him much more.
And Rodgers is confident that a deal can be sorted soon.
“It is not a big issue for us,” Rodgers said.
“Ian Ayre has spoken to his representatives and is quite relaxed.
“The club is dealing with the agent so everything is calm. The boy is remarkably happy here and there are no secondary thoughts about anything else other than continuing to play for Liverpool and he still has a lot of growth and for that the best place for him to be is here.
“His representatives know that and we as a club respect that so that will get sorted out with time.”
