Latvian guard Ingus Bankevics came up with some key baskets, including a clutch free throw, on his way to a 24-point performance, which lifted Giants above their rivals 93-90.
The result eliminated Raiders from BBL Play-offs contention and left just the Manchester club and Bristol Flyers battling for the eighth spot heading into the final week of the regular season.
It also halted Giants’ six-game losing run.
“We knew that if we want to play in Play-offs, we needed to win this game,” said Bankevics.
“We tried to focus on this game like it was our last game, and finally we did it.”
Giants and Flyers enter the actual final week of the season locked on points, although the Manchester club have three games to play while the BBL newcomers have just one fixture remaining.
